A lot of the sites have taken this model of navigation down, including Marketwatch and Yahoo. The main problem is the navigation is not consistent, is forever changing - confusing to most people. Breadcrumbs are good to show depth, but not as main form of navigation. People expect consistency of the navigation screen to screen. It seems like this UI concept was really flawed.
