Cannes: Day 2

I got knee deep in the work today, and am needless to say, exhausted. I saw a few really great pieces in the games and integrated campaign categories – maybe even some gold. I’m surprised at the number of entries that are frankly quite poor, not only in execution, but in concept. I wouldn’t have suspected that from an event of this stature.

Most of the judging right now is still on an individual basis. Over the next couple of days it will become more and more collaborative – I look forward to that. Tonight, I was able to spend some time with my fellow jury members and am amazed at the number who have gone independent – breaking their ties from the bigger agencies for a variety of reasons. Regardless, there are some extremely talented, smart people that I look forward to working with over the coming week agreeing upon what will ultimately take home the grand prix.
