Thanks for you patience on this one. It took a good deal longer to complete given the sheer size and level of detail the retina display has. It wasn’t a simple scale-up from the last file. It was clear as we created it that Apple has spent a lot of time considering how each element should be translated to such a dense resolution. What were single pixel elements are now two or three pixels thick and effects are exaggerated to become visible. For anyone designing for the retina display (640 x 960) it really is quite a different experience. When you work at 100% everything seems absolutely huge but small details get lost when viewing it on the device. You really need to be mindful of how it looks on the phone since your monitor displays things so differently.
The file is huge, both in file size (62.7MB) and dimension (4074 x 2986). You’ll need to work at 25% – 50% even on the largest screens to roughly grab elements before zooming into 100% for the actual work.

We’ve always just created this file for ourselves and shared it freely. It takes a good deal of time to create and maintain but it saves us a lot of effort on projects and pitches – we hope it does the same for you. Nice work. But there are many many mistakes. For example in “Large tabbed buttons”. Part wrong appearance, part too many layers which doesn’t need to be.
Hi, love this PSD, it is a godsend for me. However, the top status bar “full bars, virgin, 3G” on the in-app version, it shows the 3G in black, not blue. Not a huge problem, but otherwise, this is a brilliant PSD.

Very strange. When I click the link to download the file, it just reloads the page. I see someone above had a similar problem that was resolved by switching to Safari. I have tried in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. It downloads nothing in any of them. Just reloads this page.

Awesome PSD yet again from you guys, I would recommend using the Live View Screencaster along with designing for the iPhone 4, and iPad, it make things much easier to see detail, and button sizes along with exagerated fonts etc.

Fantastic template. I’m mostly a hack with Photoshop, but this stuff is still pretty easy to use. Any chance you could add a number-only keyboard and a basic text field somewhere? I’ve been grabbing the text field from the URL entry bar. If that’s the same field, I’ll keep using it. But, I wanted to make sure. I can’t seem to find the 9-digit number keypad anywhere though.

This design template is awesome! I noticed on difference between the retina version and the original version. The original version had a text box. The retina version does not. I hope I don’t sound ungrateful, I’m just trying to help. But, is there anyway a “text box” and a basic label can be added to the PSD so that basic forms can be designed with this awesome template?

Please answer Developer081′s question regarding permission to use this template to create actual app UIs.
Not all apps get rendered in code like css. Sometimes the actual mockup content ends up in a real app.
Is this ok or not?
The file is meant to design screens in Photoshop before going to XCode. It is a design tool. None of these assets are meant to put onto the Web so not sure what CSS has to do with it.
You may use these to help you design apps that ultimately go into the App store. That is what 100s of app developers have done.
Ultimately you will recreate in Xcode anything you’ve done in PS.
I think that you did a great job here worthin a donation..
If you are not using xcode and some parts of the UI use elements from the psd is that ok? So from photoshop you export your designs as png files, some small parts of which then get incorporated into the app by developer. Developer uses png elements in the app. These pieces partially come from the psd file (gradient bars etc.)
I said css because thats the closest I could think of in terms of how other apps draw these elements without just using the “pre-rendered” png files.
