My “Expression Around the Clock” Presentation

October 5, 2007 One Comment

Microsoft were kind to put my speech on the tubes last night. I can’t bear to watch it out of humiliation so let me know what you think.

Hey Jon I thought the presentation was great! I remember you telling me about the Christensen theory back on Mercer Street just a few hours after you listened to that podcast…who knew you’d one day be talking about it at a Microsoft event.

The concept of “friction” makes a lot of sense. If a design or web shop wants to help make things run more smoothly, it should identify and remove sources of friction. And the best way to identify them is to ask the designers and programmers directly.

As a side note, the expression site didn’t leave me with such a great impression of silverlight. The video player, amongst other issues, didn’t play any of the videos in sync with the audio, and the interface for selecting videos was pretty weak. It smelled a bit like a Flash 4 site from ’99 (ouch!)
