At the time AOL was going through a transition as a business. A company that was synonymous with dial-up Internet access is becoming one of the premier content sites online.
As part of this transition we were asked to help AOL Canada redesign their music section. Working with their editors and Creative Director, we designed all new templates for music.aol.ca. We worked within AOL’s standards and guidelines which dictated some global elements and styles but we were given permission to push those rules to their edges.
One of the important aspects about the redesign is that it needed to have authority with 14-22 year olds. A demographic that AOL has very little credibility with. Using a darker color palette and modern typography we were able to balance AOL’s corporate brand and the aesthetics that would appeal to the target demographic. Template for an artist page
