The primary destination that showcased Bell Canada’s involvement in the 2010 Winter Games.
For the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Bell was the exclusive telecommunications partner. Bell wanted to make sure they rose to the extraordinary challenge of connecting the 2010 Winter Games and bringing it to billions of people watching around the world. In support of this, Bell approached Teehan+Lax to help them create a rich digital experience that would allow them to communicate the many different ways in that Bell was involved the 2010 Winter Games.

Virtual Vancouver
To help explain the huge technological investment Bell was making in the games, we created the Bell Virtual Village—A 3D environment that encompassed Vancouver and its surrounding venues, which allowed visitors to explore all of the technological and infrastructural investments Bell had made.

The Athletes
On top of the huge technological investment in the Games, Bell had also made a huge investment in the Canadian Olympic athletes. To help support the “Bell Champions” program, we created an integrated platform for the athletes to tell their individual stories. Because Bell supplies services to all of Canada’s senior national team, we provided people a way to connect with their favourite Olympians whether it be through twitter or an athletes personal blog.

Staying connected
We also wanted to ensure consumers that even though they might not have been going to Vancouver to see the Olympics Bell could provide an experience that would be matched by none. By featuring breadth of Bell’s Olympic Mobile and TV products and services people could enjoy the Olympics like never before.
Olympic Apps
Through the use of mobile we were also able to help create experiences that allowed consumers take the the Olympic experience with them. The Bell virtual torch was a mobile application that would allow someone to display the Olympic torch on their device and pass it along to a friend. A tradition at the Olympics that fans do to show their support is to bring a cowbell to events. This insight led to another app that we helped develop called the Bell Cowbell app. To show you support you could quickly launch the the Cowbell app and yes shake a Bell branded Cowbell.
